Research Team Scott Cowan
Scott is an undergraduate student at Simon Fraser University in the joint
Mathematics and Computing Science honours program. His interests extend to
a variety of areas in both disciplines, particularly Computer Algebra of
late. This summer he is doing research in this field under Dr. Michael
Monagan, working on improvements to the modular GCD algorithm. After
earning his Bachelor's degree he intends to continue his studies at the
graduate level.
Although he spends much of his life locked indoors in front of computers,
Scott also enjoys hiking in the spectacular mountains of southwest British
Columbia. Finally he is a lifelong fan of Star Trek, and is able to best
nearly everyone he meets in trivia on that subject.
