Nathalie Sinclair

Nathalie Sinclair is currently a mathematics education post-doctoral student at SFU, working both in the education department with Rina Zazkis, and with the CECM--where her interest in technology and learning was first developed during her tenure as a research associate following her Master's degree in mathematics at SFU. Having recently obtained her PhD in education from Queen's University, she will be commencing an assistant professor position at Michigan State University in August 2003.

Nathalie's research interests include the nature of mathematical learning experiences, those which integrate the cognitive, affective and aesthetic dimensions of human experience, and the role of the aesthetic in motivating and sustaining mathematical activity. As part of her doctoral work, under the auspices of the National Research Council, she created middle school level internet-based learning modules which aim to stimulate and develop student aesthetic engagement.
